Fighting Frizzy Hair

With the humidity comes the dreaded hair frizz, which we fight to control all Summer. Your hair becomes frizzy when it is humid as it absorbs moisture from the air, due to its porousity. The more porous your hair, the more moisture it will absorb, so dry, damaged hair is more prone to frizz. When your hair absorbs moisture, it forms more hydrogen bonds (think of the double strand of hydrogen in water – H2O – drawn in from the moisture in the air) in the keratin strands of your hair. This in turn develops to disturb your smooth hair cuticle, causing your hair to frizz. No matter your age, if your hair is susceptible, high humidity will cause your hair to frizz, but the good news is help at hand.
