Cruelty Free Beauty

If you are looking for beauty products that are not tested on animals, you might think it’s a little tricky finding a Cruelty Free beauty brand from the myriad of brands available on the market, however it isn’t so. If you’re an ethical shopper who prefers their beauty not tested on animals, ie Cruelty Free, the good news is there are many (many) beauty brands who do not test on animals (and some are even Vegan – so no animal ingredients). The list below is not exhaustive, however it does give you a good guide as to the Cruelty Free beauty brands (to suit all budgets), available in the Australian market. The first 5 brands featured below – Inika Organics, Simplicite, A’kin, Sukin and Antipodes are also Vegan (and the 6th and 7th brands – The Body Shop and Wotnot are predominantly Vegan). Being animal lovers, we’re really excited to see how many furry-friend loving brands there are in Australia. Read on, and let us know what you think in the comments below.

Barry M Cosmetics

Barry M Cosmetics was created in 1982, in London, Great Britain, by Barry Mero. In the early 80’s Barry had a number of retail outlets in London selling beauty and cosmetic products. The fashion was for dramatic, outrageous make-up, however, he found that no one was producing the exciting and vivid colours that his customers really wanted, so he created the Barry M Cosmetics range. Barry M soon became a cult name in the field of colour cosmetics, and was worn by punks, goths and new romantics. Fast forward to now, and the colours are bold, wearable, and contemporary. It seems a little ironic then, that our favourite Barry M product is one that helps hide colour – skin redness that is. We love the Flawless Primer Colour Correcting, a green based primer that helps to neutralise skin redness that can occur as we age (if you’re not sure how this works, click here to read about the colour wheel and makeup). The formula contains calming cucumber, to help further reduce redness, and vitamin E to help makeup stay smoother for longer. 30ml RRP $16.95.
