Sukin – Australian natural skincare

Well, we’ve made it to the end of a long (and by no means exhaustive) list of Australian beauty brands in honour of Australia Day, and the last, and by no means least, Australian beauty brand we love is Sukin. If you are looking for an environmentally conscious, natural skincare brand, this is the brand for you.

In 2007, Sukin was launched in Melbourne, Australia, after the founders identified a gap in the market for high efficacy, environmentally sustainable and affordable natural skincare. Since then, Sukin has grown to become Australia’s Number One Natural Skincare Brand in pharmacies, according to recent AC Neilsen data.

Sukin, utilises an abundance of beautiful botanicals, antioxidants and essential oils to restore the natural vitality and radiance of your skin and hair. The extensive product offering boasts skincare innovation and natural beauty, and the extensive “No” list is almost as long as a regular ingredient list. Sukin cosmetics contain no: Petrolatum / Mineral Oils, Synthetic Fragrances, Animal Derivatives, Artifical Colour, Harsh Detergents, Propylene Glycol, MEA/DEA/TEA, Phthalates, Triclosan, Sulphates, Parabens, Silicones, EDTA.

All of the products produced by Sukin are Australian made with ingredients that are naturally derived, cruelty free and vegan. All formulations are 100% Carbon Neutral, biodegradable and grey water safe.

Sukin products

There’s so much to love about the Sukin company philosophy, just wait until you try the products themselves. Full of natural ingredients, the products smell divine, and they leave your skin and hair looking and feeling wonderful. Our favourites at Beauty Over 40 are:

If your skin is looking a little worse for wear after the Christmas / New Year period, try the Sukin Super Greens Detoxifying Facial Masque, a clay based masque containing kale, goji berry and bentonite that is also enriched with vitamins and antioxidants to help detox, brighten your complexion and minimise the appearance of fine lines. Unlike traditional clay masques, this one is hydrating, with ingredients such as avocado, baobab and rosehip oils helping to promote an even skin tone through intensive hydration properties. Skin is replenished, contributing towards maintaining youthful, glowing skin. 100ml RRP $16.95.

For dry and dehydrated skin the Rosehip Hydrating Day Cream works wonders. Containing hero ingredients Rosehip Oil, and pomegranate, the rich potent formula helps to relieve dehydrated skin and prevent the signs of premature ageing. With Australian Kakadu plum, naturally rich in vitamin C, the Day Cream encourages skin brightness and radiance, while the generous blend of active botanicals helps improve the texture of your skin and leaves it skin feeling smooth and hydrated. A little goes a long way, so this lasts a while. Always follow with a sunscreen, as this product does not contain SPF. 120ml RRP $24.95.

If you find it hard to find a cleanser that doesn’t irritate sensitive skin, try DermaSukin Daily Gentle Wash – laboratory tested and Dermatologist Certified as non-irritating and non-sensitising on the skin. It is super gentle, and safe for use on your dry, itchy and problem skin. Soothing the skin whilst cleansing, the Daily Gentle Wash is free from sulphates and parabens, and is formulated with aloe vera, chamomile and cucumber to effectively cleanse and soothe the face and body, without stripping the skin of its natural oils. Suitable for normal to extra sensitive skin types. 250ml RRP $8.95, 500ml RRP $12.95, 1L RRP $18.95.

If you are looking for a natural eye product, you can’t go past the Sukin Antioxidant Eye Serum, which  offers hydration to the delicate eye area through a blend of plant extracts including soothing aloe vera, cooling cucumber and burdock. Nutrient rich oils of rosehip, evening primrose and borage, hydrate your eye area and assist with reducing the appearance of fine lines and help fight the signs of ageing, while improving the skin’s texture. As with all eye creams/serums, apply with your ring finger, and pat the product in, so you don’t stretch the delicate skin around your eye area. Generous 30ml size RRP $19.95.
