Ginger&ME is a relatively new Australian beauty brand – it only started in 2016 – but we predict it will quickly gain a cult following, as the product range is extremely well suited to mature skin, and has been founded by 2 beauty industry veterans, Nicola Quinn, and Maria Enna-Cocciolone. The brand is focused on 21st century technology and lifestyle.
The skincare range is based on neurocosmetics – focusing on protecting and repairing fibroblasts in your skin, so they can continue to produce collagen and elastin, and works to return your skin to its optimum state of repair, using a combined A.C.D approach – A = Anti-Inflammatory, Antioxidant, Anti-Aging, Anti-Pollutant, C = Collagen & Elastin Synthesis, D = Detoxification & cell survival and Synthesis of vitamin D. In a nutshell, these actions allow your skin to repair itself, the end result being a visible reduction in the appearance and size of wrinkles. It’s not a miracle cure for aging (no product is), but by stimulating collagen and elastin production, this comes pretty close.
This all sounds very scientific, and it is, but with a balance of nature too. The brand embraces the best of skin science, blended with active botanical ingredients, and the products are animal, vegan, and gluten friendly. All Ginger&ME products contain the NeuroDefence™ Complex, a powerful anti aging complex, which helps to improve collagen and elastin synthesis. Additionally, the products do not contain a wide range of “nasties”, including aluminium, formaldehyde, phenoxyethanol, TEA, mineral oil, sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), sodium laureth sulfate (SLES), PABA, toulene, DMDM hydantoin & urea, polyethylene glycol, phthlates, DEET, paba, DEA, FD&C colour pigments, triclosan, propylene glycol, dioxins, parabens, MEA, synthetic fragrances, silicone derived emollients, and butylene glycol – leaving the good stuff to do its work.
Anything that makes our skin look better is fine by us, and we love the combination of science and nature, especially the collagen boosting properties, all without the nasties, and being animal friendly – there is quite a bit to like about Ginger&ME. For our skin needs, Beauty Over 40 loves:
For a gentle yet deep cleanse, the AHA Milk-Gel Cleanser, with a lovely texture, also lightly exfoliates whilst it cleanses, to remove rough, dull skin cells (which can build up as we age and our cell turnover decreases). Containing a cocktail of five botanical fruit acids naturally rich in AHA’s, and avocado oil, as well as the Neurodefence™ Complex, your skin is left feeling hydrated, smoother, brighter, and more radiant. 150ml RRP $55.00.
Particularly good for more mature skin, or skin that is showing a loss of firmness, the Advanced Collagen Booster contains powerful antioxidants and anti inflammatory ingredients to protect your skin against damage. The Neurodefence™ Complex, which specifically targets and supports the repair of fibroblasts, encourages optimum collagen and elastin synthesis, which in turn, helps to firm up your skin and minimise fine lines and wrinkles. 30ml RRP $85.00.
For skin that is irritated, or just compromised, after an illness, or allergic break out, the Ginger&ME SOS Relief Cream with Neurodefence™ Complex offers healing and strengthening support to sore skin. The light, creamy emulsion has anti-irritant benefits, as well as calming and soothing properties, which help your skin repair its irritation and recover, to return to a stronger state. Jojoba leaf extract helps strengthen your skins barrier function to sooth irritated skin longer term. 50g RRP $80.00.
If you are after a bit of “me time”, the Power Exfoliant Mask can be left on your face while you take a bath, and left to do its work.
