Don’t you just love it when an old favourite gets a makeover and becomes even better? With advances in science, and understanding of skin function, we frequently see our favourite skincare (and makeup) products with formula improvements, to better meet the needs of our skin. Knowing how efficacious the Rodan + Fields Redefine regimen is for mature skin (helping with fine lines, wrinkles and loss of firmness), we were very happy to see our core favourites reformulated and improved, and some new products enter the range. Yes, it seems the problem-focused Redefine products can be even better!
The products in the classic Core Regimen have either been improved or reformulated. The Daily Clay Cleanser (125ml RRP $63.00) has been improved with the addition of Ectoin, a natural amino acid and Glyceryl Glucoside, a sugar derivative, to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and boost visible firmness, whilst the Pore Refining Toner (125ml RRP $68.00) has been reformulated with Vitamin B3 to promote a more even skin tone, Deep Sea Water rich in natural minerals to help the appearance of pores, and Fruit Acids to help promote natural skin cell turnover. The Triple Defense Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 15 (30ml RRP $123.00) has been improved with Rodan + Fields RF3 Antioxidant Complex technology, which contains improved Peptides to help minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and firm skin, and Grape Extract, which also helps to minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The Overnight Restorative Cream (30ml RRP $123.00) has been completely reformulated, with exclusive Peptide technology, to help sculpt and lift, Retnoid science, combining Bakuchiol, a natural alternative to retinol you’ll be hearing a lot more about, with Glycolic Acid to target fine lines and wrinkles for more sculpted, smother skin. New to the range, a Daily Foaming Cleanser (125ml RRP $63.00) with AHA’s to gently exfoliate skin (great for mature skin as cell turnover decreases), and the same combination of Ectoin and Glyceryl Glucoside, to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and boost visible firmness, that is in the Daily Clay Cleanser. A lighter formula Triple Defense Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 15 (30ml RRP $123.00), with the same improved Peptides and Grape Extract to help minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and firm skin (Peptides) as the original Cream, plus Beet Extract to moisturise and plump skin, and a new Overnight Reparative Lotion (30ml RRP $123.00) with retinal MD technology to target fine lines and wrinkles and visibly sculp skin, exclusive Peptide technology, to help sculpt and lift, and Vitamin B3 to help even the appearance of skin tone. Rounding out the collection, the New + Improved Multi-Function Eye Cream (15ml RRP $95.00) is a gorgeous lightweight cream that soaks into eyes for instant hydration. The Eye Cream contains Grape Extract to help minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, Vitamins C and F to help strengthen skin’s natural barrier, Antioxidants to help defend against environmental aggressors, and Dairy Flower Extract to help nourish and brighten the eye area for a younger, fresher appearance.
I’ve been using the range for 2 weeks now (the new products together, the improved and reformulated Core products together, and a mix of the new and improved/reformulated together), and I’m really impressed. I love the addition of the 2 Lotion formulas – they are ideal for the warmer months (ie now), or for those with oiler skins, with the same benefits as the classic Creams (which I will switch to in Winter). The addition of a Foamy Cleanser, with hydrating properties, is a good alternative for people who prefer this formula. The improvements to the Core Regimen are very welcome – I love the softer, smoother skin the Daily Clay Cleanser provides, and the addition of Fruit Acids to the Pore Refining Toner boosts an already brilliant product. The addition of improved Peptides and new Grape Extract to the Triple Defense Day Cream strengthens the anti ageing benefits, whilst the Retinoid science employed in the Overnight Restorative Cream helps to gently soften and define skin. I do love the initial results of the Multi-function Eye Cream – my eyes look and feel more nourished and hydrated, and puffiness has reduced in the short time I have been using the cream. If you are after a scientifically based skincare routine, the New & Improved Rodan + Fields Redefine Regimen is well worth a look.
