With the weather heating up, we’re finding ourselves going to, and hosting, more BBQ’s, more picnics, and a few more parties (and there will be even more as we approach the Christmas season). All of this is leaving us with a bit of a quandary – it seems rude not to partake in a drink or two, but how good for us is this with the Christmas indulgence to come, and is there a healthier alternative?
There just may be. We’ve newly discovered Angove Organic Wines, and the benefits their belief in sustainable viviculture and organic vineyard management brings. The company itself is not new, established over 130 years ago, and with vineyards in the McLaren Vale and Riverland regions across South Australia. Now 2019 marks the 13th anniversary of Angove Family Winemakers farming and making wine under organic certification. The organic wines (reds, whites, a bubbly and a rose’) have minimal inputs, with no artificial herbicides, pesticides, or fertilisers. The end results are wines that have a pure natural expression and flavour. The wines are certified organic to Australian, USA (USDA), Canadian, EU and Chinese certification standards. All Angove Organic wines have a RRP of $17.00, so they’re relatively friendly to your hip pocket too.
All of the organic wines are full of flavour, and if we had to pick a favourite, two we really like are the Angove Organic 2019 Rose´, with its pale salmon pink colour, and fresh cherry and red berry flavours, and the award winning Angove Organic 2018 Shiraz, with notes of pepper, rich plum, and spice aromas. Whether you’re having white meat, red meat, or no meat at all, these are the perfect accompaniment to your meal, and you can indulge a little without feeling too guilty. With a range that includes Cuvee Brut, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Shiraz Cabernet, as well as our favourite Rose´ and Shiraz, you’re spoilt for choice. As always, drink responsibly, and have a wonderful festive season.
