SkinCeuticals, the number 1 American Medical Aesthetic Skincare Brand worldwide, best known for their efficacious anti-ageing antioxidant treatments, hosted me at their stand at the recent Non-Surgical Symposium in Sydney. The beauty of the SkinCeuticals products is that they are all supported by independent research, so you know they work. I was lucky enough to experience a tailored SkinCeuticals facial during the event. Firstly, my skin was analysed to check for any underlying concerns (which is always a scary proposition for anyone aged over 30, but thankfully no major concerns to come through), and then the facial began.
It started with the Gentle Cream Cleanser, a soft mild cleanser (perfect for my dry skin during Winter), and followed with the Simply Clean Gel, which refined a few pores that were making their presence known with the cold weather. The Equalizing Toner, a super soft, alcohol free toner then balanced my skin after the 2 different cleansers, and prepped it for the wonderful products to follow. The Retexturizing Activator was applied to exfoliate my skin (some areas with a lack of cell turnover were detected during the skin analysis, and then the Clarifying Clay Masque was applied to help refine my skin post-exfoliation. The Resveratrol B E Serum (an antioxidant rich serum, which is normally a night treatment) was then applied to help neutralize free radicals, and help reveal radiance and improve firmness. This was then followed by the Phyto Corrective Gel, a gel serum packed full of botanical goodness, which helps to calm and hydrate skin, and reduce redness (which we can all suffer from over Winter). The Vitamin C Firming Masque (a salon-only Masque) then helped to protect my skin from free radical damage, whilst it helped to tighten and firm my skin. This was followed by the iconic C E Ferulic, with 15% pure Vitamin C, 1 % Vitamin E, and 0.5% Ferulic Acid, to help protect my skin against environmental free radical damage, and to help improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The new H.A Intensifier was then applied to help boost my skin’s own Hyaluronic Acid levels (studies show it can boost levels by up to 30%). Hyaluronic Acid is a wonder product to improve skin’s hydration, and a must-have for Winter. Metacell Renewal B3 was then applied as a daily moisturiser, to help strengthen skin’s moisture barrier and help improve firmness. Finally the treatment concluded with the application of the new Ultra Facial Defense SF 50+, to help protect my skin against UVA/UVB damage. Whilst this seems like a long list of products, the whole facial treatment took less than 40 minutes. I was surprised at just how light and easily absorbed the products were – they penetrated my skin and went to work straight away, even the later products after all of the products that went before them. My skin just glowed post-facial, and it’s now 5 days since the treatment, and my skin still feels super soft, hydrated, and plump.
PS, if you want to know how antioxidants help to protect your skin against free radicals, refer to the third image – the first apple has been cut and left untreated, the middle apple has had water applied, and the third apple has had a thin layer of SkinCeuticals C E Feurlic applied – the results are around 7 hours old – food for thought!
